Green Recruitment Solutions are seeking an astute, dedicated and technically exceptional, Plant Manager; for a leading FTSE 250 Waste and Recycling organisation. This leadership role will see the ideal candidate spearhead one of our client’s utmost critical teams; within their cutting-edge Energy from Waste (EfW) plant.

Ultimately, it will be through your personal efforts and expertise, and the efforts and results of your effectively managed teams, that you will ensure the optimisation- and continued functional delivery- of this state-of-the-art facility. In doing so, you will further evidence our client’s technological stature, serving to confirm that their belief in innovation, and an environmentally driven approach, works; and with high yield results.

Additionally, this position will put you at the precipice of this newly constructed facility. Essentially, your work will both, continue generating business success whilst also providing proof of concept. You will therefore be a trusted authority within a facility which- when proven successful- can, and will, be undoubtedly referred to as an evidential case study/blueprint example (a blueprint which has high potential to be utilised for numerous future global EfW developments to come!)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a Waste to Energy Plant with the capability of running in excess of 250,000 tonnes a year this is a 24/7 plant with minimum outage
  • To support and motivate a team of 30+ site staff including, but not limited to:
    • Team Leaders
    • Operatives
    • Maintenance Technicians
  • Strategize the year’s maintenance schedule, with the goal of improving efficiencies and optimisation; whilst ensuring these plans adhere to set KPI’s, planned shutdown schedules and maintenance timings
  • Ensure all operations are maintained in line with licenses, H&S requirements and onsite PPC permit; including liaison with the Environment Agency
  • Manage and prioritise operational spending in line with budgets.
  • Prioritise operations on site and day to day scheduling of preventative maintenance
  • Maximise utilisation especially during planned, and unanticipated, maintenance

Essential Requirements:

  • Technical, and functional, working knowledge/experience in the operation of non-hazardous waste, to steam, to energy machinery and high-pressure boiler systems; their functionality, common fault issues and process to resolution 
  • Experience of managing a team is essential
  • The ideal candidate will have a rich engineering background. Preferably you will have grown organically, grooming your skills by working your way up; from a more junior engineering / maintenance role
  • Technical/academic electromechanical engineering qualifications and/or accreditations are essential. However, electrically biased would be ideal (i.e. HNC in Electrical Engineering subject, Certified as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) or MSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering)
  • NEBOSH General or IOSH would be advantageous; as would further QHSE qualifications, training and/or experience
  • You will be an experienced Plant Manager with experience of managing team within a Waste to Energy Plant / Power Generation industry
  • Must be confident dealing with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including face to face customers, colleagues, directorate and senior level governing bodies; such as local authorities
