Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Green Recruitment Solutions are currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for a leading player within the energy industry. Your job will be to play a leading role within the Mechanical Design department of a growing organisation.

This will involve hands-on design and development of technology, problem-solving, design and commercial feasibility, interaction with project delivery team and other disciplines within the engineering department.

Responsibilities:

• Producing Mechanical Engineering Design packages to enable successful installation, commissioning, operation and servicing of district heating and cooling systems
• Developing conceptual designs according to specifications, drawing our specs, calculations and component selection such as Boilers, Chillers, Heat exchangers, Pumps, Filters, Controls etc.
• Delivering designs and tender preparations documents in line with agreed timescales and quality standards
• Production of project documentation such as PFDs, PIDs, design specs, technical specs, bill of materials etc.
• Provide input and support throughout the full project life cycle

Essential Requirements:

• Relevant experience with a background in power generation (between 1 - 25MW)
• Experience in district heating, steam systems and chilled water applications
• Conversant with MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD 
• An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles
• A sound working knowledge of CAD software
• Design of equipment using 3D Modeling (SolidEdge/ Solidworks) software and 2D software (AutoCAD)
• Able to backup designs with calculations and or use of software tools
• Strong problem-solving skills
• A creative approach for generating new ideas
• Excellent communication skills
• An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
• Good team working skills
